SPECIALISED DEMOLITION AND EXCAVATION PIT FOR A NEW SHOPPING CENTER
GDR service complex gives way to new shopping center
In the Berlin district of Marzahn, the new EASTGATE shopping center was built in 2003 on the former site of the postal services and service cube and the Marzahn Gate department store. When it opened in 2005, it was the largest shopping center in the eastern district of Berlin.
BTB was initially responsible for the demolition of the approximately 15-year-old reinforced concrete building. After that we excavated a 110.000m³ excavation pit for the new shopping center and filled 40,000m³ of soil.
To keep the extremely demanding time schedule, we worked 8 weeks, 12-hour days, 6 days per week during winter months.
